Does this work with Vtiger on-premise as well as Vtiger Cloud?
Both. The on-premise edition is connected through its web-service API on your own server, and Vtiger Cloud through its hosted API. The record mapping is the same; only the endpoint and the authentication differ.
What does bidirectional contact sync actually change day to day?
A contact edited in Vtiger updates the matching QuickBooks customer, and a customer edited in QuickBooks updates the Vtiger contact. Address and billing corrections made by accounts stop being invisible to sales, which is the usual reason invoices go to an old address.
Can I sync only a selected group of records?
Yes. A filter can restrict the sync to a particular selection, for example one organisation, one contact type, or records changed since a given date. That is useful during a phased rollout and for keeping test data out of the live company file.
How do I know when a sync fails?
Every run is logged, and email notification can be sent from both systems when records fail to transfer, so a rejected record is dealt with the same day rather than discovered at month end.
