Common questions

Something not covered here? Ask us directly.

Can Peachtree and Sage 50 data be moved into QuickBooks?

Yes. Peachtree, now sold as Sage 50, holds customers, vendors, the chart of accounts, inventory items and transaction history that can be read and written into QuickBooks, either as a one-off migration or as an ongoing sync between the two.

Does the chart of accounts have to match?

No, and it rarely does. Peachtree account numbering and QuickBooks account naming are mapped to each other during setup, so each Peachtree account posts to a defined QuickBooks account rather than forcing you to rebuild the chart of accounts before you start.

Can opening balances and history be carried over?

Historic transactions can be brought across for a chosen date range, or the move can be made on opening balances only if you prefer to leave the history in the old system and archive it. Which is right depends on audit and reporting requirements, not on the software.

Can both systems run side by side during the change over?

Yes. Running an ongoing sync lets both systems stay current while users move over in stages, which is the safer route for a business that cannot stop trading for a cut-over weekend.
